2018 Jeep Wrangler Blind Spot Monitoring

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler can be equipped with blind spot monitoring, a new feature for the Jeep Wrangler that’s never been optional. It will be easy to spot the Wranglers with BSM because it is built directly into the taillight housing.

The reason why is this: the blind spot monitoring has to clear the 2018 Jeep Wrangler’s extended wheel arches. However, there are a few problems with this.

  1. If you plan on building your Jeep and someday needing bigger fender flares, they might block the view of the BSM system.
  2. If you are on a trail and hit a branch that is stronger than you thought or a rock, it could rip your taillight assembly right off your Jeep.
  3. Fender benders with Jeeps could be more expensive than ever.

So, when you build or buy your new 2018 Jeep Wrangler, keep your future plans in mind and if you want blind spot monitoring or some of the other new safety features. I figure a lot of Sahara owners will opt in because they rarely leave the streets, but Rubicon owners might want to think twice.
