One year from now, the 2019 Jeep Scrambler truck should be hitting dealer showrooms. That’s pretty amazing. That means from this point forward there should be more leaks, more info, and the big reveal of what the Jeep truck will look like! So I am actually in the market to purchase a Jeep Scrambler truck in 2019. There are a few factors that I am still wondering about such as off-road capability and frankly, I want this thing to look a little tougher than the test mules we have seen in spy shots. I have owned a few Jeep Wranglers and a few Ford F-150s and if I am going to buy the Jeep Scrambler it needs to be a lot more Wrangler than F150.

Here’s what we know so far. The Scrambler is rumored to come with three top options: a body-paint matched 3-piece hardtop, a black 3-piece hardtop, and a Premium black Sunrider top. For those of you too young to remember, there used to be a ton of trucks on the road that offered a topless experience and since the Full-size Bronco and Blazers have been dead for years, you just don’t get the fun with the utility anymore. This is another reason why the Jeep Scrambler is going to destroy the competition and hopefully inspire them to bring back the fun options in vehicles past.

We are still expecting 2 engines at a minimum with the Pentastar V6 and the 3.0L Ecodiesel V6. There is no word yet if the new turbo 4-cylinder will be found in the 2019 Jeep Scrambler truck. Time will tell. Finally, and this will depend on gear-ratios and engine choices, the Jeep truck is expected to be able to tow up to 6500lbs with a payload of 1400lbs. Not too shabby seeing that a 4-door 2018 JLU is rated at 3500lbs.

So, as long as I can take this JT down to Moab and tackle Finns & Things and Hell’s Revenge and still tow the family camper home, I will be one happy man. The Jeep Scrambler truck will probably be as close to a perfect vehicle for me as possible. If only there was a way to also get it to do 0-60 in under 5 seconds.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler offers an optional power sliding canvas fixed roof for those who don’t want to go completely top-down, ever. The driver’s doors will roll down as well as the rear doors, and the cargo windows which look fixed, actually pop out as well!

2018 Jeep Wrangler Will Feature Up To 7 USB Ports http://www.jeepdaily.com/2018-jeep-wrangler-will-feature-7-usb-ports/ Tue, 17 Oct 2017 04:30:12 +0000 http://www.jeepdaily.com/?p=403 2018-jeep-wrangler-USB-ports

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will feature up to 7 USB ports when properly equipped. The first two will be located in the Media Hub located on the Instrument Panel below the climate controls.

2018-jeep-wrangler-media-hub

Behind the Media Hub access door you will find one AUX port, a USB Type C port (micro-USB) and a USB Type A port (standard flat USB like your iPhone cable or mouse or keyboard). Both of these USB ports will allow you to play music from an iPod or phone through your Jeep’s sound system. Also, the smart charging ports will charge your device for up to an hour after your vehicle is turned off.

Important: The USB Type C port is your primary media port for the stereo. Two devices can be plugged in at the same time for charging but only one can play music at a time. Both ports share a single data connection so you can’t switch between Type A or Type C. Type C will always be your primary connection to the stereo.

2018-jeep-wrangler-usb-port-console

The third USB port in the 2018 Jeep Wrangler is located in a familiar spot in the center console. It also can play music through your stereo as long as your primary source isn’t already plugged into the USB Type C port in the Media Hub.

The last 4 (two Type C and two Type A) will be located behind the center console for your passengers above the power inverter. The left stack can play music through the stereo as well as charge your devices. The right stack are charge only USB ports.

This may seem like overkill but I am always out of space for charging devices in my Jeep. On my last trip to Moab we had 4 cellphones, and 2 GoPros plus a Macbook that we were uploading footage from. It’s great to see all this onboard power in the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

If you are short on USB power in your current Jeep let me recommend the 6 port USB car charger. It’s cheap and powerful and a good upgrade for any Jeep.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Features a 6-Speed Manual or 8-Speed Automatic Transmission http://www.jeepdaily.com/2018-jeep-wrangler-features-6-speed-manual-8-speed-automatic-transmission/ Mon, 16 Oct 2017 05:57:31 +0000 http://www.jeepdaily.com/?p=371 2018-jeep-wrangler-8-speed-automatic

That’s right folks, both transmissions offered in the 2018 Jeep Wrangler will give you great power delivery and a spirited drive. The 8-Speed automatic is the news here though which should help with better gas mileage and less shifting on hilly surfaces. Plus the new automatic transmission will feature auto-stick , that thing where you shift gears only when it’s a rental car and you’re trying to get your money’s worth or when you are rockcrawling and your friend is flopping around the passenger seat like an idiot and his knee bangs you into neutral and you freak out for a second thinking you broke your Jeep. Right Justin?

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler will still have a 4 position transfer case with 2H, 4H, N and 4L unless you opt for the 5 position transfer case which offers 4H Auto and 4H Part Time, essentially allowing you to keep your Jeep in AWD mode. Read more about the transfer cases on page 154 of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler User’s Guide.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Driver Safety Features http://www.jeepdaily.com/2018-jeep-wrangler-driver-safety-features/ Mon, 16 Oct 2017 05:39:42 +0000 http://www.jeepdaily.com/?p=365 2018-jeep-wrangler-safety-features

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler has many safety features that you see in modern vehicles including ABS, EBD, ESC, BAS, RAB, RCP, BSM, TPMS, TSC, RBS, DST and HDC to name a few.

Did I lose you at ABS? That’s ok, we will go through a quick rundown on all the 2018 Jeep Wrangler’s Safety Features.

EBC – Electronic Brake Control System – Your EBC is the mastermind in charge of all your special braking features including ABS, BAS, TCS, HSA, ERM, TSC, RBS, DST and HDC.

ABS – Anti-Lock Brake System. This is an oldie but a goodie. Antilock brake systems are the brakes you want in your Jeep because they let a computer monitor your braking so you don’t lock up your tires on slick roads or in fast stops.

BAS – Brake Assist System – The BAS senses what you are trying to accomplish in your braking, especially in an emergency scenario and it applies extra braking in those moments giving you the optimal pressure needed.

TCS – Traction Control System – A traction control system applies braking pressure when one of your tires loses grip providing you enhanced acceleration and stability.

HSA – Hill Start Assist – HSA helps you not roll back when on a big hill.

ERM – Electronic Roll Mitigation – When the system anticipates wheel lift or a potential roll it applies the appropriate braking or even reduces engine power.

TSC – Trailer Sway Control – TSC uses sensors to help stop the sway of an excessively swaying trailer.

RBS – Rain Brake Support – RBS periodically applies a small amount of braking pressure to remove any water buildup on the front rotors.

DST – Dynamic Steering Torque – DST applies torque to the steering wheel to show the driver what is happening on the road.

HDC – Hill Decent Control – HDC allows you to maintain vehicle speed while descending hills in various situations.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler also features some Auxiliary Driving Systems.

2018-jeep-wrangler-blind-spot-monitoring

BSM – Blind Spot Monitoring – This notifies you of a vehicle entering your blind spot. It detects about 12 feet on both sides of the Jeep and about 10 feet beyond the rear of the vehicle.

RCP – Rear Cross Path – Do you live on a busy street where you have to back into oncoming traffic? RCP senses oncoming traffic and alerts you before you stick your badonkadonk out there to get hit.

TPMS – Tire Pressure Monitoring System – Annoys the shit out of you because tires are always losing air or temps are changing…

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler Has A Power Sliding Top http://www.jeepdaily.com/2018-jeep-wrangler-power-sliding-top/ Mon, 16 Oct 2017 05:06:50 +0000 http://www.jeepdaily.com/?p=361 2018-jeep-wrangler-power-sliding-top

If your 2018 Jeep Wrangler has a power-sliding top, this is how you operate it. The switch is located to the right of the driver’s sun visor with simple open and close buttons. It sounds like this model will not have a removable top at all which is a bit scary for die-hard Wrangler fans. You will be able to remove the rear quarter windows for a more open air feel but this will not be capable of ever being truly wide open. The power top will not open if temperatures are below -4F but it can be closed at temps above -40F. You also must be going less than 60mph to operate the Jeep Wrangler’s power top. There are two modes to control the power top: Express and Manual. Think of express like most modern driver side windows where you flick the button for a half a second and it opens all the way unless you stop it. It works the same for closing it. If there’s an obstruction in the path of the power top it will not close.

Jeep Assembly Plant Gets Off-Road Course http://www.jeepdaily.com/jeep-assembly-plant-gets-off-road-course/ Wed, 20 Sep 2017 21:52:11 +0000 http://www.jeepdaily.com/?p=245 jeep-assembly-plant-offroad
Back in April, Jeep did a temporary layoff of their manufacturing plant to gear up for the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler. This week the Jeep assembly workers were treated to an offroad course built right on the assembly plant grounds so they could see and feel firsthand what a Jeep Wrangler can do.

jeep-assembly-plant-offroad-course

Jeep workers will come back to work in waves. The first shift will involve the ladies and gentlemen who build the Jeep bodies. After that will be the paint shop employees and then the general assembly staff. There will also be thorough classroom training and on-the-job training to familiarize the employees with the latest upgrades.

Management doesn’t plan on opening the course to the public but they will let the workers drive the new Jeep Scrambler truck on it when the time comes!
